Hi! I’m Sonia Dombroski (pictured here with Harry, chief executive behind the business of Best Buddies!).
I have been training dogs in behaviour and basic obedience for over 20 years. Having had dogs within the family as a child, I have always felt a love and connection with those furry friends. It was only when I came back to England (after working abroad for 10 years), that I brought home my own little bundle of fluff and my passion grew, changing my career path for good.
Sophie was a 6- week- old Springer Spaniel when she came into my life, but at only 3- months- old, she refused to come down the stairs, growling and showing her teeth at me. This is the moment I knew I had a real problem.
She was so hyper, constantly jumping up at me and anyone that came in the house, chewing holes in the walls and wooden furniture, pulling violently on the lead and fulfilling every owner’s worst nightmare – biting me.
I knew classes wouldn’t work for me because she was so hyper, so I decided to look for a trainer to come to the house. After receiving help from a Dog Behaviourist and seeing results come so quickly for Sophie, I decided this is what I wanted to do and I have loved every second of it since. That was 21 years ago.
